Sir Nicholas Montagu KCB

Sir Nicholas led the Inland Revenue through the greatest changes in its entire 200 year history.  He transformed the department that everyone loves to hate into one that at least attempts to treat taxpayers as customers. He has since been appointed Public Sector Ambassador for

Business in the Community by The Prince of Wales.

As a civil servant Nick played a leading role in some of the most controversial issues of the day, including rail privatisation and public service reform. Drawing on this in keynote presentations, he stresses the need for leaders to persuade others of the advantages of change, to build solid partnerships and to be open about setbacks.

Nick is also a seasoned raconteur. Of all his achievements, he was especially proud to be voted Personality of the Year by the readers of Accountancy Age – an extremely rare accolade for a Revenue Chairman. After dinner he talks absorbingly and wittily about his experiences under very different ministers, in very different jobs.
