Emma Stone

Emma Stone

Emma was appointed Director of Policy and Research in December 2010, having previously been Assistant Director of Policy and Research since 2008.

 

She joined JRF in 1998 as a Research Manager and has previously managed programmes on Immigration and Inclusion, Supporting Disabled Adults in their Parenting Role, Disabled Children and Young People, Race Equality and Disability. Current areas of interest include:

-generating and using evidence to inform and influence policy, practice and positive social change;

-the future and funding of adult social care in the UK;

-power and participation of people who are marginalised; -contributing to and learning from the city and people of Bradford through the JRF Bradford Programmes.  

 

Before joining JRF Emma was a contract researcher for the Centre for Disability Studies at the University of Leeds and completed a PhD on 'Disability and Development in China' (having previously done Chinese as an undergraduate followed by a Masters in International Development Studies).

 

Outside JRF, Emma is a Trustee for Y Care International (a medium sized development organisation focused on disadvantaged young people, working through YMCAs in Asia, Africa and the Middle East) and for DORS (Development Organisation of Rural Sichuan) – a small charity in China.
