Bob Baber

Bob is a senior property advisor with CIPFAProperty.

He has 30 years experience in the field of public sector asset management and construction procurement.

Before joining CIPFA in 2010, Bob was the Audit Commission’s national lead on asset management. He helped form national policy and set the national standards for measuring performance of all councils, fire, police, and health trusts on asset management. He was the principal technical advisor on the Audit Commission’s 2009 national report on asset management in local government, ‘Roomfor improvement’.

Bob’s current role with CIPFA Property is advising and supporting the public sector on asset management. He draws on his 20 years experience as a Chief Surveyor at a County Council and the knowledge gained from performance assessments of public bodies across England on asset management.

Bob is vigorous in promoting best practice and spreading knowledge on asset management. His aim is for the issues that practitioners of asset management face at the front line represented at a national policy level such as the RICS.

He is currently working as a specialist advisor on place-based and customer-centric asset management to the Government’s Capital and Asset Pathfinders programme.
